With the price of health care rapidly escalating, politicians, caregivers, insurance companies and patients are all grasping for strategies to keep costs down.

Costs of Care, a Boston-based nonprofit, believes that one way to start bringing down the price of treatment is to make doctors more aware of their patients’ medical bills.
