Massachusetts incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown got a visit this morning from Maine’s Sen. Olympia Snowe, who praised her colleague for what she described as his bipartisan spirit and leadership on women’s issues.

“We have an advocate here in Scott Brown, and he’s already demonstrated that not only in his actions, but also in the legislative initiatives and in the speeches that he has given time and time again, even preceding his time in the United States Senate,” Snowe said.

Brown, in a tight race against Democrat Elizabeth Warren, took heat from women voters in early March for his support of the Blunt Amendment, which would have allowed any business or insurer to deny any coverage contrasting with their moral or religious beliefs.

These days, Brown is focused on proving that he’s the candidate devoted to women.

“Scott certainly understands the issues of women. He lives in a household full of them between me, Ayla, and Adrianna, so he understand the seriousness and the priorities of women based on, certainly, his lifestyle,” said Brown’s wife, Gail Huff, speaking at today’s event.
